Sell Out

Selling out is the new keeping it real

Speculation on a sore subject. Welcome to Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando.

While this doesn’t mean anything to the general public, the fans know what is going on here. It’s looking more and more likely that HHNXX was our last year of true original content. We’ve seen less and less and I don’t expect it to change. I foresee a lot of “borrowing” this year.

So what does this have to do with Hollywood? We’ve seen a lot of duplicate content in Hollywood over the years, mainly the intellectual properties. This year, it seems like the whole event is entirely Universal Studios Hollywood based (USH being known for using excessive IPs).
Leaving us with very little original houses. As fans we can appreciate the efforts of the intellectual properties, but for some reason it’s never the same and often too restricted in comparison to the houses that aren’t on contract.

Why can’t it be original content? Obviously for marketing. Plastering The Walking Dead and other big name experiences on billboards fill the park much easier. I get that. Although fans are truly a big part of HHN, money has to come first. Sad truth, indeed.

What to do with the super fans? We still get Bill and Ted? Hopefully! They’ve built up a huge fan base and from the looks of it, they don’t want to lose it. Although Bill and Ted is super dated and still super excellent, it’s only a matter of time before we get something more media friendly like Treehouse of Horror.

Enter Legendary Truth. So what can we gather from this?
Surely since Legendary Truth is returning it means we will see at least one original house, right? I’d put money on it. I’d even go double or nothing that it’d be based in Carey, Ohio. There is no doubt in my mind that we will still get one or two original houses and there is no way they’d pass up the opportunity to place said house(s) in Carey, Ohio.

Sadly it looks like a wash, rinse, repeat type year with the majority of direction coming from “big wigs” in Hollywood and/or marketing.

Here is to hoping for an awesome commercial!

La Llorona billboard.

So the HHN website saw a minor update today.  When I say minor, I mean, teaser at best. The real information went out through the HHN Facebook page. It confirmed the dates for the event!

Sept. 20-21, 26-29
Oct. 3-6, 10-13, 16-20, 23-27
and Oct. 31-Nov. 2.

My count shows that as 27 nights this year! This is the most nights we’ve ever had! I forsee new ticket packages sneaking in this year. Either that or expect to pay up.

We also get another tidbit, the event is confirmed to be in USF this year. We speculated on this in our previous post. Could we be getting 27 nights because we only get 7 houses?

Some other rumors floating about seem to point at yet another HHN Hollywood favorite making the jump to Orlando: La Llorona. (IMO this was Hollywood’s answer to Orlando’s Bloody Mary) I wouldn’t count this rumor out. We’ve seen a lot of Hollywood recently, why stop now?

Hopefully more info soon! On another note, the Legendary Truth website has gone forbidden! So keep your eyes on that!

2013 HHN Rumors in Full Swing

Posted on April 4th, 2013 by Chad Burton

HHNRumors is back for 2013

We’re back in business

I’m sure you thought you’d never see this page change again. However the rumors keep haunting me.  Those who know me personally know that lately I haven’t had much time to devote to my web projects. A 2 year old can do that to you. That being said, after 2 years, I’ve finally got a bit of time to rebuild the site and keep the rumors going! The forums aren’t going to be far behind, so look out for that in the near future.

Disclaimer:  I haven’t been reading speculation so sourcing these rumors is difficult. (Feel free to help in the comments below)

So today brings us some things to discuss, these rumors have been making their way to me in all forms: IMs, emails, even a few text messages. They all seem to point to the same few things

  • One Park
  • 8 Houses (Where? Your guess is as good as mine)
  • Lots of IPs (Intellectual Properties)
    • American Werewolf in London (AWIL)
    • Resident Evil
    • American Horror Story
    • The Walking Dead (Season 2-3 please)
    • And a few others

So, not much substance yet. Remember these are all rumors. Rumors that are likely someones wish for the event.  You know, not confirmed… Remember, it’s only April!

One Park
Fancy new rides can do that to ya. Despite the event completely outgrowing USF, there is absolutely no way marketing could pass up letting guests ride the soon to be open Transformers ride. Yes, I get that the ride could easily be open with two parks, however unlike us die-hard super fans a good amount of people go to the park and ride the rides during HHN. Remember, they’ll be plastering billboards and having commercials air all the time with Transformers, that is likely to be a focal point for this year. Priorities! They’ll have an easy time catering to those guests by keeping this in one park.

AWIL
The AWIL movie is a bit dated for the core audience (1981) but was also one of the big movies for Universal horror. Considering that they’ve pretty much done all of their classic monsters, you could say this was bound to happen eventually. If you haven’t seen the movie, I suggest doing so, this could easily make a great house.

Resident Evil
I know there are a ton of kids that love the franchise. I’ve played the games back in the day but haven’t kept up with it in some time. After a successful run with Silent Hill, I can see this happening this year. The IP covers a good bit of the target audience and can also fit right in with pretty much any HHN theme they could come up with.

American Horror Story
This one I can’t really speak for, I know little about it. I’ll blame that on me though. I’ve only heard good things. I’ll eventually catch up, so feel free to yell at me in the comments.

The Walking Dead
This was clearly a fan favorite last year. I was still new to the show when I experienced it last year. However, it has since become one of my favorite shows. There is so much untouched content they could easily do this again. Prison anyone?

8 Houses
Last year obviously wasn’t what A&D wanted as far as house count. Although everything went well, you could easily see the missing queue made its way to the streets in the form of crowds with nowhere to go. My guess is that with TNA gone, we gain another soundstage house and end up with a messy queue.

So there ya have it. Be sure to keep up with the latest HHN info  and speculation on our newly opened HHN 23 forum!

Posted on September 5th, 2012 by Chad Burton

The much awaited HHNRumors 2012 shirts are now available over at the ParkRumors Store. The shirts are a new design this year and were done by PixelB.us. Once The Walking Dead was announced we decided to go with a zombie theme, it was originally drawn on a whiteboard and then it progressed into the end result. The gray part of the shirt does glow in the dark! The shirts are $20 shipped in the USA and $25 international. Act now, shirts are only available for a limited time!

And we are…..

ParkRumors.com

Well, this is going to be a fun post!

HHNRumors started as a small blog that I used to keep track of the
latest HHN gossip. With the help of many it has somehow turned into one
of the leading HHN news sites :-P (No complaints there).
As I'm sure many of you have noticed, the HHNRumors blog has been pretty silent as of late. We aren't gone! We've just been heavily working on our new project, ParkRumors.com.

I went from tirelessly googling and searching various government sources to eventually searching my own forum for the latest HHN news! The forums have become a tremendous asset to the HHN community and have played a huge part in HHNRumors' success.

So what does ParkRumors.com have to do with HHNRumors.com?
In short, everything! While searching those government sites for HHN stuff, I often passed up scoops on stories that were quite awesome and didn't really fit the theme of HHNRumors. Sometimes they'd get posted on the front page (Project 722) and other times I'd pass them off to other websites. With haunt season just a few months out of the year and a site themed to only one event, how was I to expand?

So how does this change things at HHNRumors?
The forums will remain as is! The blog will/has moved to ParkRumors.com so you can get all the latest news one website! Don't want to read all that other crap?!? Then skip it and go directly to the HHN section of ParkRumors – http://parkrumors.com/category/hhn/ we will still carry all of the latest HHN news, trust me!

But I want a forum for everything, not just HHN!
Perfect! ParkRumors.com has just opened their forum, it covers much more! It has new staff and even has "The Economy" to keep things honest. Don't get it? Go check it out!

Will I still be able to get a HHNRumors shirt?
Yes and no. ParkRumors will (soon) have a shirt which can be purchased year round and will feature a seasonal HHN shirt. (Also, I hear they are doing a HHNRumors shirt giveaway this week)

Now what?!?
We aren't slowing down, we are only growing stronger! Wish us luck!

Also, be sure to download the free ParkRumors Android app!
